"To-54 patients are now undergoing treatment and supervision of medical staff officers," said Head of Disease Control and Prevention Division of Environmental Health, Public Health Service, City of Serang, Dr Ella Meidelina Friday.

During this time, he said, leprosy is divided into two, namely dry leprosy (PB) and wet leprosy (MB).

Dry leprosy will be cured with treatment Multy drug therapy (MDT) for six months.

The wet leprosy MDT treatment takes time for a year.

She said leprosy wet if left untreated can spread through respiratory or skin contact of the old.

However, not everyone can catch the disease of leprosy as it depends from individual immunity.

"Actually, leprosy is not spread quickly or only once in touch," he said.

According to him, treatment of leprosy should be performed early, when there are signs of skin disorders like skin fungus if the white spots or patches of redness.

"People with leprosy lose flavor and not covered with feathers is also not sweat," he said.

He explained, to prevent the disease of leprosy, in addition to socialization also provide treatment for patients.

The reason, leprosy is not hereditary, curses, hexes, and can be treated. In addition, patients with leprosy should not be isolated or shunned because they can be treated at health centers. "I think by way of treatment, leprosy disability can be prevented," he said.
